Samsung
has been slowly unveiling its 2016 TV lineup over the last couple of
months, and now it's finally saying when you'll be able to get some of
them — and for how much. The gist is: Samsung has five new lines of its
SUHD TVs, which all have 4K, quantum dot displays that support HDR
video. Samsung also says they a feature called "Ultra Black" that
reduces reflections to create deeper blacks on screen. Basically, these
TV sets should look really good and, for the moment, at least, sound
fairly future proof.
Here's the specific breakdown.
The KS9800.
The
KS9800 is Samsung's huge new top of the line series. It's curved, and
includes 65-inch, 78-inch, and 88-inch models,
with prices at $4,499,
$9,999, and $19,999, in case you want a TV that costs as much as a small
car or many people's annual rent. The 78-inch model arrives in May, the
other two come in June.
The KS9500.
The
KS9500 (also seen in the topmost photo) is the continuation of an older
high-end series of curved TVs. It comes in 55-inch, 65-inch, and
78-inch models, with prices at $2,499, $3,699, and $7,999. The smaller
models are available now, while the 78-inch arrive in June.
The KS9000.
The
KS9000 is the top line of Samsung's flat 4K TVs. It comes in 55-inch,
65-inch, and 75-inch models, with pricing at $2,299, $3,499, and $6,499.
As above, the smaller models are on sale now, the larger model comes in
June.
