Instead of signing Nick Young’s Adidas sneakers, Kobe Bryant threw them in the trash

Instead of signing Nick Young’s Adidas sneakers, Kobe Bryant threw them in the trash

Kobe Bryant only signs Nike sneakers.

Kobe’s final game was a monumental moment not just for Kobe but also for his Lakers teammates. They had the worst season in team history, and Wednesday night was actually a game that the players looked forward to. Lakers guard Nick Young wanted Kobe to sign his Adidas sneakers as a keepsake from the 60-point game. This would’ve made for a sweet souvenir, but instead of signing the shoes, Kobe threw them in the trash.

Young detailed what happened during Thursday’s exit interview:
Yeah, it was enjoyable. Nah, I think, you know, I forgot about everything that was going on. I think the feeling was like we won a championship or something. They had the Champagne bottles after. But yeah, it was great. The confetti, the five-minute intro he had. Kobe signing autographs — we was all in line like we was fans, you know, in the locker room — the fact that he threw my Adidas and didn’t sign my Adidas, I was a little disappointed in that. He could not end without something like that, so I think he threw my shoes in the trash, but yeah, that’s Kobe for you. To be fair, there was no way Nike would have liked to see Kobe’s signature on an Adidas sneaker — jersey, maybe — but not sneaker. Plus, it took Young 451 minutes to record an assist to Kobe — he wasn’t making any special exceptions to sign Young’s Adidas shoes after that.It wasn’t a total loss as Young did manage to get Kobe’s autograph.
